Please pray for the people of Rockhampton who live in places affected by bushfires.We live about 8 kilometres from the base of the mountain, where the fires are threatening homes, but still have thick smoke and falling ash.
The setting sun was like a crimson fireball in the smoke-gray sky this evening.
It is quite hard to breathe even here and very difficult for friends right in that area, which include JJ, our Pastors family and several home schooling friends.
Bush fires have been burning for a couple of weeks and we've had haze most of that time,
but this is the closest they have come to the city.
We are in desperate need of rain, everthing is tinder dry.
Lord be merciful on our city!

ReplyDeleteIs this early for you to be getting this kind of fire activity? Drink plenty of water and get rest; this can help your body deal with the stress from the smoke.
ReplyDeleteThis is our usual fire season and we've been on total fire bans for ages. The Winter in this part of Australia is a dry season (typically get December to February rain) but we have been in drought for so many years here, with little relief, we were bound to get fires.

ReplyDeleteRuby, praying for rain and safety from the fires this morning. My parents live in a part of Montana that tends to have huge forest fires. Several times over the past decade, the flames have fringed dangerously near, but the Lord has kept them safe. Fire is frightening, your description brought back some trying memories. Praying!
ReplyDeleteThank you for praying for the people of Rocky. It seems the worst has been avoided. No lives lost, Praise God. My friends who live right in the most vulnerable spot have texted this morning to say the danger has passed and they are all okay. They evacuated their littlies but stayed to hose etc till the last possible moment. They say the Fire Crews have been just fantastic. Again, thanks be to God!
