Fascinating

My friend and sister in the Lord JJ lost her husband to cancer nearly five years ago. She herself is a survivor of cancer, chemo and radium treatment. Today she hosted a lovely morning tea as part of the Breast Cancer fund raising appeal.

She had gone to so much detail to make it a really special day out for the ladies. It was a traditional "hens" type party, with games and prizes and lots of laughs and girlish cackling! The serious issues were also addressed and JJ was able to share some of how the Lord had used her illness in refining her, and how she knew and trusted that he had and would never leave or forsake her. She also used the time to give special thanks to those who had supported her, especially her children, in laws and grandchildren. Also, the Queensland Cancer Council who are so supportive both practically and support wise - even having wigs ready before Chemo even started!

Our invitations asked us to come dressed in pink... of course.

On arrival we each received a packet with trimmings to design our own Fascinators.
Prizes were awarded for most original, most unusual etc.

Then we each had to wear our creation for the duration of the day!

We played various other quiz and memory games.
JJ had gone to a lot of trouble to make little gifts for the winners herself.
I came home with a sweet hand towel. Some won baked goodies and
some plants in pretty decorated pots.

Then of course, we partook of the sumptuous feast!
This dear sister is a wonderful cook and crafter and she obviously
delighted in preparing all of this...
And we certainly enjoyed sharing it.
